Yakthung Mundhum is oral narratives passed down from generations to generations, responsibly preserved by Tumyahang and (Limbu shamans). Yakthung Mundhum is a wisdom, guide, mines of knowledge, philosophy, way of living, and experience of Limbu ancestors. The stories cover various themes and moral values giving an enlightenment into Yakthung world. There is an urgency to preserve and document the oral narratives and knowledge on the outset of hyper-modernization, deviation from roots and fading away of many elders having indigenous wisdom. This urgency ignited the researcher-author a thought for writing this book as a contribution towards conservation of Limbu community. It can certainly develop among the readers a sense of connection with the roots and Mundhum at large. Born to father Sancha Bahadur Subba and mother Sarmila Subba, author-researcher Sandhya Subba Singzango hails from the Himalayan State of Sikkim. Sandhya has made significant contributions to Limbu academia and literature. She published 'Limbu Shamans: A Directory of Limbu Shamans in Sikkim' in 2022, and 'Yakthung Civilization,' a collection of articles in 2023. Furthermore, she undertook the challenging task of translating two volumes of 'Mundhum'—compiled and edited by the esteemed poet and Limbu literature researcher, Bairagi Kainla—titled 'Chaiit Mundhum: The Story of Creation' and 'Mujingna Kheyongna Mundhum' from Nepali into English, all in the year 2022.
