26. Who owns the copyright of the book?

In most cases, the author retains the copyright, while BukAnt holds the publishing rights as agreed in the contract. Exact terms are clearly mentioned in the publishing agreement.

27. What is copyright for a book?

Copyright is an automatic legal right granted to an author upon creating an original literary work. It protects the author’s exclusive rights to reproduce, distribute, and display the content. It covers the specific expression of ideas—the text, plot, and characters—but not the ideas themselves. Protection applies immediately once the work is fixed in a tangible form.

28. What is the duration of copyright in India?

In India, copyright generally lasts for the lifetime of the author plus 60 years after their death.

29. Is registration of copyright compulsory in India?

No. Copyright registration is not mandatory. Protection is automatic once an original work is created. However, registration is recommended because it serves as prima facie evidence in court.

30. What is ISBN?

An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a unique 13-digit identifier for books, used worldwide for ordering, inventory, and cataloging. Each format (paperback, hardcover, etc.) requires a separate ISBN.

31. Does BukAnt provide ISBN for its books?

Yes.

32. Does BukAnt charge any fees for ISBN?

No. BukAnt facilitates the ISBN service free of cost for books published by it.

33. What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work, ideas, or intellectual property as your own without proper acknowledgement. It is a serious breach of academic and professional integrity.

34. Is plagiarism an offense?

Yes. Plagiarism is a serious offense and can lead to academic penalties and legal action related to copyright infringement.

35. Am I allowed to publish a book written by AI?

No. BukAnt requires that all published works be original and authored by a real human. Manuscripts wholly written by AI are not accepted. However, AI-assisted work (for example, for editing or brainstorming) may be accepted if it is clearly disclosed and the human author remains fully responsible for the content. Using AI without disclosure may violate our publication contract terms. BukAnt uses AI-detection tools to screen submissions containing substantial AI-generated content.
