At BukAnt, publishing is not about trends. It is about building a thoughtful, lasting catalogue of books that matter.
From the quiet ache of a world paused by COVID-19 and the creative vacuum it left behind, BukAnt was born in 2022, when the world began to breathe again. It took shape in Salbari, at the gentle foothills of the Himalayas, where stories seem to rise naturally from the landscape. Today, BukAnt stands as an Indian independent publishing initiative based in Siliguri, devoted to crafting stories with care—for their ideas, their language, and their form.
We work closely with authors, translators, scholars, and institutions to ensure thoughtful editing, responsible production, and meaningful distribution. We support both established and first-time authors, and publish in multiple languages including Nepali, English, Hindi, Bengali, Bhutia, and Limboo. BukAnt is not a vanity press. We follow a curated publishing model. We collaborate closely with authors and, where applicable, sponsors or institutions, to ensure that each book meet strong editorial and production standards. Our process emphasizes thoughtful editing, careful design, and responsible publishing practices.
To serve different kinds of readers and writers, BukAnt works through focused verticals: Salamander Imprints for selected literary and cultural titles, BukAnt Kids for books for and by children, Hornbil for academic and reference works, and BukAnt One for first-time authors, offering them a supportive and accessible entry into publishing. We collaborate with Publication Nepa~laya for cross-border and cross-edition projects, strengthening the reach and life of good books.
In a nutshell, BukAnt exists to publish books that deserve to exist—and to publish them well.
