Born in the breathtaking landscapes of Yangang Rangang, South Sikkim, on the 5th of July, 1957, Bhaichung Tshering Bhutia (Tsichudarpa) is a creative achiever whose remarkable journey began with his pioneering spirit, culminating in the creation of the firstever Bhutia language novel, ‘Richhi’ (part one), in 1996. With an unwavering commitment to preserving his native language, this literary feat marked the inception of his lifelong dedication to language and culture. His Bhutia drama ‘Namtok’ graced audiences in 1997. Bhutia also brought about ‘Lho Llu,’ the first Bhutia video album, in 2006. He published poetry collection ‘Tshigcheth Nhatshogs’ (2008) and ‘Geway Lamdron’ (2008), a religious Bhutia work deeply rooted in his heritage. His participation in the South Asian Poetry Festival for Peace in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 2015, reflects his dedication to fostering connections through literature. Retired from government service, Bhaichung Tshering Bhutia continues to illuminate young minds as the Head of the Department of Bhutia Language at Sikkim University.
