Nepali poetry anthology 'Huri Pachhiko Gaun' (Village after the Storm) is a debut book of poet Biram Chamling. Although, Biram writes mostly the politically motivated poems, he also has encompassed the themes like rebel culture, Dalit issue, feminist discourse, romanticism, alienation, agony. The disintegration of common aspiration of peoples, dreams and struggles, conflict, defeat and the despair and disorientation created by it is the melody found in the poems of the book. Representative moments and turning points of the journey our collective consciousness has taken over the past four decades have been captured in words. The punishments imposed on the consciousness of the people, the rottenness that is rotting the society from within are the main agenda of poems, while the pompous pomp of the society, the indifference and hypocrisy, the fake faces of the society have been well exposed in poems. 'Huri Pachhiko Gaun' comes before reader as an urgent urge to bring the village into the center of discussion, which is repeatedly covered by temptation, deception, betrayal and the phenomenon of dreams and development. Born in January, 1974 Biram in Latpanchor Cinchona Plantation located in the district of Darjeeling, started writing poetry since long back. 'Huri Chalepachhiko Gaun' is his first published work of poetry.
