‘Dukhnu Uttikai Chha’, is a Nepali anthology of Nepali short stories penned by a fiction writer, poet and translator Padmashree Sanu Lama and published by BukAnt. The stories are set in the natural, social and political context of the hamlets of Sikkim and Darjeeling hills. The simplicity of community life has been beautifully reflected in the stories. The arrangement and structure of stories by Lama never fail to ignite the imagination of the readers. His range of characters, names, plots, places, their setting and their psychological facets outline his explicit thematic style. Former engineer Lama has published several books and his texts have been translated into English, Hindi, Urdu, Assamese and Oriya languages. His passion for literary activities started with writing short stories and essays while he was in the school. He has published short story collections Katha Sampad; Monika; Mrigatrishna and Dukhnu Uttikai Chha; a novel Himalchuli Mantira, a travelogue Aangan Paratira, a collection of lyrical poems Jahan Bagchha Tista Rangit, translation works namely Bhagawan Buddha Jeewan ra Darshan and Guru Padmasambhava. He was awarded with Bhanu Puraskar of Sikkim in 1991; Certificate of Merit awarded by Pan American Sanitation Bureau in Costa Rica in 1983; Sahitya Akademi Award New Delhi in 1993; Dr. Shova Kanti Thegim Smriti Puraskar (2001); Madan Byakhyanmala Puraskar, Varanasi (2000). He was honoured with 4th Highest Civilian Award of India Padma Shri from the hand of President of India Dr. A.P.J. Kalam in the year 2005.
